Discussion Group

Rhythmic Living Discussion Group (As of September 2014, the group is still active.)

“Women have often felt insane when cleaving to the truth of our experience. Our future depends on the sanity of each of us, and we have a profound stake, beyond the personal, in the project of describing our reality as candidly and fully as we can to each other … When a woman tells the truth she is creating the possibility for more truth around her.”                     Adrienne Rich

The discussion group is for people with active minds who take charge of their own health.   We experiment and report our results and observations.  We try to understand our results by doing research and looking for patterns.  We are doing observational work so we share our observations.  No one plays doctor.  Do not ask for someone else to tell you what to do.  Do not tell another person what to do.  Decisions about your health are between you and your licensed health care professional.   Our focus is health, hormones, nutrition, and lifestyle with the goal of promoting vitality.   We are interested in scientific, serious references or your reports about your direct experience.

The RhythmicLiving yahoo discussion group began as a user group for women on the Wiley Protocol who wanted to make it work.  After trying very hard to make the WP work for us we came to realize it is just wrong. The protocol just doesn’t work long term. Many women who say it works are not doing the WP dosing. All the product searching was a waste of time. Now we have progesterone overdosing. Until we can get past that we aren’t a normal BHRT group. We never will be. We have gone where no women will ever go again. We hope we can come back and be unharmed, but we don’ t know. You will learn a lot about hormones watching us detox, but you won’t get normal BHRT. You will see what remarkable things hormones do. Estrogen is amazing.

Our goal is serious discussion and anything stated as a fact must be cited as to the source. That doesn’t mean you can’t speculate or point to information you aren’t sure about just preface how you ‘hold’ the information you share. Your report on your experience is fact. Your explanation for your experience may not always be accurate.

This is not a chit chat group, but if you make us laugh we will love you.

There are medical practitioners on this list as well, although they do not practice or offer advice nor do they post publicly. Nothing we discuss is intended to replace consultation with a doctor or licensed practitioner.

Group guidelines will be sent when you join. Please read them closely. They will be posted to the group every two weeks as a reminder.

Notes about Virtual Forums

If you have never subscribed to an Internet mailing list/group, it may help you to think of the list/group as if it were several people sitting in a circle, one person talking to another, and everyone else listening in on the discussion. Actually, it is normal for multiple discussions to take place simultaneously, each one covering a different topic. When you want to express your viewpoint on a particular topic (or ask others to share their viewpoints), you send an e-mail message to the group address, with the topic indicated in the “Subject” of your message. Your message will then be sent automatically to everyone who subscribes to the list/group. The best way to learn how the mailing group works is to subscribe to it and “listen in” on the discussions for a few days (also known as “lurking”). Also, be sure to read and save the User’s Guide which will be e-mailed to you after you subscribe. If you do not agree to the terms of the User’s Guide, you should sign off the list/group (unsubscribe).
